Béal & Blanckaert: between urban and human contest
The Béal & Blanckaert architecture studio, created in 1991, aims to create specific projects, linked to the urban and cultural environment, the client’s attitudes and aspirations and the durability of the works.
Béal & Blanckaert considering three fundamental terms: culture, urbanity and architecture, which are main actors of the city, the architectural writing of these new social housing, poses an easy narrative and an expression favorable to interpretation. An envelope that folds and unfolds to adapt to the constraints of elevation and absorb program irregularities.
In a place where nature and architecture echo, the project integrates / dialogues with the surrounding environment.
With an elegant appearance, nature has a privileged place in the building, which becomes the support of the structure itself, creating the idea of “living surrounded by nature”.
The project turns out to be a three-dimensional “device” on the side of the city, while in public spaces there is a clear boundary. Paradoxically, the building acquires greater integrity, proving capable of integrating contextual needs into its own logic.
There are proposals that aim to question urban planning: if on the one hand something original is always preserved, on the other hand the existing structure is revolutionized, through innovative techniques and solutions.
The project is generally based on simple and operational principles:
the ambivalent nature of urban situation led us to offer two faces to the project. On the one hand, a sober aspect of the architecture, which addresses the city and other a landscape aspect, which leaves room for the inhabitants, offering new meeting places.
Fundamental point is the values linked to strong architectural style.
