KOZ Architectes: social and environmental innovation
Created in 1999, the KOZ Architectes studio offers expressive and joyful architecture, where they are aesthetes of social and environmental innovation. The team is committed to the desire to vary the modes of operation.
The city and architecture are too often places that impose their order, set limits, which is why studio KOZ Architectes is committed to breaking them by taking into account technical and functional factors.
Listening to every situation to always start a new and respectful relationship that is established between the inhabitants of the ecosystems in which operate, creates a dialogue with the environment itself.
The projects always demonstrate to integrate completely different style houses in an urbanized environment, however they seem to communicate in an exceptional way, as happens in Tête en l’air, the first collective residential building that escapes the many constraints that are imposed, being part of a fairly dense urban fabric.
Social housing is not an “all in facade” architecture and this is demonstrated by the project of “Totoro”, characterized by two kind urban figures.
To provide new housing, low residential areas are considered, to participate in densification and height development.
The new buildings pave the way for new qualitative developments outside the city’s “agglomerations”.
The projects carried out are characterized by flaws, available and unpredictable spaces, which offer its inhabitants the possibility of inventing spontaneous and informal uses and social relations, as can be seen in the project “Montjoie”.
The theme that is revealed is the careful analysis of the creation of places where social relations can be established between the various residents, preserving that sense of belonging that is often lacking today.
